The latest United Nations report on climate change is out, and the outlook is “bleak.”
Despite dire warnings, the world’s two biggest polluters — China and the United States — actually increased their emissions in 2018.1
The secretary-general of the United Nations is almost begging the U.S. and other big emitters to take action, warning that the world’s efforts to stop climate change have been “utterly inadequate” and that we're approaching a “point of no return.”2

One of Trump’s first acts as president was to pull the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement, a worldwide commitment to cut emissions and keep global warming under 1.5C.3 Since then, he has ordered the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to roll back rules critical for reducing emissions, such as the Clean Power Plan and Clean Car Standards. As a result, greenhouse gas emissions — which had been on the decline for a decade — actually rose last year.4
In order to thwart the efforts of Trump and industry polluters, we need to stop greenhouse gasses at their source: fossil fuel fracking and oil extraction. That’s why Food & Water Watch is leading more than 50 state and local campaigns to shut down fracking, pipelines, and gas power plants.
But the more Trump serves corporate interests, the more fronts we have to fight on. We don’t have industry backers or lobbyists. We have you, our supporters, on our side to fight for the planet.
We’re speeding toward climate disaster. We need to work even more fervently than we already are at the state and local level to shut down fossil fuel production and extraction.
