Hi JOHN, this is going to be a different type of email than I usually write.
A few days ago, a NY-11 resident found that a swastika was drawn on one of my yard signs – right next to Temple Israel on Staten Island.
Yesterday I joined members of the Jewish Community, Rabbi Michael Howald of Temple Israel, clergy of all faiths, and law enforcement to denounce this act of hate at a press conference.
If you have a moment, please read this article about our collective response. >>
This is a sad reminder that hate is rampant and division has held our society in a chokehold for far too long. But I know that together, this country can fulfill its purpose, just like it did for my ancestors who came here to flee antisemitism and hate. There are better days ahead.
While all this division, hate, and vitriol is sickening – I refuse to respond to hate with more hate. I’m going to continue to give everything I have to this city and this country. My campaign is about unity. I’ve always believed that when we bring people together, we have the opportunity to unite behind our flag and get important work done.
Standing with you against division,
Max Rose
