Earlier this year, the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, the landmark case that has provided legal protection for abortion for nearly 50 years. Since then, almost a dozen state legislatures packed with anti-abortion extremists have put in motion or passed laws to severely restrict or ban abortion altogether.

Despite their best efforts, we know that the secret to securing our reproductive freedom once and for all is the power of ballot measures and direct democracy. Extremist officials and the justices of the Supreme Court will *never* have the final say on our fundamental right to decide if, when, and how to start a family. That belongs to the people.
