Before I was U.S. Senator for California, I served as California’s Secretary of State.

In most states, including California, Secretaries of State are responsible for running free and fair elections — ensuring that everyone who’s eligible to vote gets to exercise that constitutional right to make their voice heard.

They’re also in charge of training poll workers, managing voter-registration databases, fighting election-related misinformation, and certifying election results.

It’s an important job, one that’s essential to the functioning of our elections and our government.

That’s why it’s extremely dangerous that MAGA Republicans are running in close races for Secretary of State positions across the country — including in key battleground states where a Secretary of State’s refusal to certify an election could pose a grave threat to our democracy.

As a former Secretary of State myself, I know what’s at stake. We cannot allow MAGA-right election deniers to assume control of these critically important public offices across the country.

Please, split a donation between my campaign and the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State. GOP candidates in these races pose a grave threat to our democracy — we cannot let them win this November.
