Bernie railed against the dirty deal on the Senate floor weeks ago, and US
Rep. Ro Khanna joined our [ [link removed] ]Town Hall last week, standing with Bernie as
a firm no-vote on any continuing resolution with this deal attached.

With a budget deadline looming, more than 80 US House Reps have signed
onto a [ [link removed] ]letter led by Rep. Raul Grijalva — and now, Sen. Jeff Merkley
is leading a similar [ [link removed] ]letter.

So far, Sens. Tammy Duckworth, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, Chris Van
Hollen, Benjamin Cardin, and of course Bernie, signed to oppose attaching
the Dirty Deal to the must-pass bill.

Manchin made the cringe claim that he’s a victim of “revenge politics,”
Bernie responded: “Defeating the Big Oil side deal is not about revenge,”

Manchin’s dirty deal is a wishlist written by fossil fuel lobbyists that
would sacrifice frontline communities and expedite fossil fuel projects —
and effectively cancel out the climate steps Democrats are celebrating in
the Inflation Reduction Act!

“The IRA was the compromise, and we need more people to say what Bernie
Sanders and I are saying, which is we’re going to vote no if push comes to
shove on this,” [ [link removed] ]Common Dreams quoted Ro Khanna from our town hall.

CLIMATE ACTION STRIKE

On Friday, Our Revolution NJ took part in a Global Climate Strike,
rallying on Rutgers Campus and marching to US Rep. Frank Pallone’s office
to call on him to oppose Manchin’s dirty deal.

Our Revolution Organizing Coordinator Anna-Marty Visky caught up with
Pallone on the street — and he committed to opposing the Dirty Deal!

Our Revolution NJ is part of the Empower NJ climate coalition that met on
the issue with the staff of Sen. Cory Booker — who has since signed onto
Merkley’s letter opposing the deal.

We’re also ramping up pressure on Sen. Bob Menendez and US Rep. Andy Kim
in NJ.

Early voting has started in Minnesota and we need to re-elect Keith
Ellison as Attorney General!

A Board Member of Our Revolution, he has worked for decades to advance
democratic and criminal-justice reform and to fight corporate monopolies.

During the pandemic, Keith worked to combat price gouging and
profiteering, including on prescription drugs. He also led the team that
convicted former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder
of George Floyd.

a tough race this year. Like most progressives, he’s the target of the
billionaire and rightwing smear machine.
