Africa & Europe
Praise God for a case in Kenya in which a police officer has been found liable for murder and will now have to face charges in court. In a 2018 case, a police officer shot and killed an innocent man and then quickly rushed to create a cover-up story painting the victim as a notorious robber. Kenya’s Independent Policing Oversight Authority referred the case to IJM to support the prosecution team and provide psychosocial support to surviving family members.
Latin America
Praise God for a new protocol to hold virtual hearings was signed in El Salvador to provide a swifter response for victims of violence. IJM collaborated and provided technical and expert support. This new protocol sets the ground to optimize the system's performance by removing traveling time to courtrooms, lowering hearing overlaps, and reducing the number of canceled hearings due to experts' absence.
South Asia
Please pray for new opportunities for survivor leaders to shine. We have been fortunate to work with a great group of trafficking survivors who are becoming powerful voices in their communities. Now, IJM wants to help them find bigger regional or global forums where their ideas can be shared. Please pray we can find some great conferences or events where these women and men can bring their unique experience to a prominent stage!
Asia Pacific
Pray to the Lord to lead our team through our work. Ask Him to teach us to make wise decisions and keep us on the path He set before us. Pray for God to help us avoid distractions and keep our team’s efforts and resources focused on serving others.
