Recently, at FRC's Pray Vote Stand Summit in Atlanta, GA, Katy Faust, founder of Them Before Us, shared why marriage should not be redefined in federal law. Speaking of how the social fabric of our nation has changed since the passage of the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996, she said, "While there have been a lot of changes in our culture, one thing has not changed, and that is children. Children have not changed. . . And therefore, marriage cannot change either."

Children continue to need a mother and a father and should never be deprived of either under normal circumstances. By redefining marriage in federal law, the (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act encourages intentionally motherless and fatherless homes. As Faust said, this is unjust. Senators need your encouragement to put children first by voting "no" on the (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act.

Supporters of the bill--Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.)--have offered a substitute amendment that they say will "fix" the religious liberty concerns with the bill. But it will not; instead, it will super-charge the ongoing religious liberty persecution of people like you who simply believe in one-man, one-woman marriage.

Will you encourage your senators right now? Tell them that no amendment can erase the threat this bill poses!
