A Pima County judge just reinstated a pre-statehood abortion ban here in Arizona, with required jail time for doctors and pharmacists. It will have catastrophic impacts on Arizonans.

This is the exact extreme overreach we knew the AZ GOP would want after the Supreme Court overturned itself and the right to abortion access. But it is not what Arizonans want.

This ban puts Arizonans at risk, as doctors and pharmacists will be paralyzed by fear of jail time for providing care. And it puts our current Republican elected officials in charge of Arizonans reproductive health care.

This ruling may be overturned on appeal, but the message is clear – the AZ GOP will never stop infringing on our freedoms. They won’t stop until they have total bans, with jailed medical providers as trophies, and then they’ll come for other reproductive health services.

The only way to stop this is to vote them out.

We need an Attorney General who will use the Arizona Constitution’s privacy clause to protect Arizonans, a Governor who will block these extreme overreaches, and a Democratic-led legislature to repeal this total ban completely.
