Hi
John,
Breast Cancer Action can hold the powerful accountable because we aren’t in the pocket of the breast cancer industry. We started as a small group of women demanding answers about breast cancer, and over three decades we’ve grown into an independent, rapid-response watchdog working for lasting system change.

Your year-end donation will help us hold the powerful accountable — corporations and government agencies alike. ([link removed])

We will continue to work tirelessly and fearlessly to address and end the current breast cancer epidemic, and to make sure that no community bears a disproportionate burden of the disease. Over the next year, with your support, we will:
* Pass stronger labeling and improved informed consent for breast implants at the Food and Drug Administration, so that everyone has balanced, evidence-based information.
* Take the Lymphedema Treatment Act over the finish line by mobilizing our members to urge their Senators to support H.R. 3, which the House of Representatives passed this month.
* Defend our Supreme Court win overturning Myriad Genetics’ patent on the BRCA 1&2 genes by opposing proposed amendments to the Patent Act that would allow companies to patent human genes.
* End fossil fuel production at the root of the breast cancer epidemic by building on early successes with California’s Governor Newsom to end fracking and dangerous drilling, which threaten health and increase the risk of breast cancer.
* Uphold approval standards for safe and effective breast cancer treatments that extend life without crippling side effects and costs.

We know that no single tactic will get the results we need, and we’ll do whatever it takes. When necessary, we’ll protest and shut down business as usual. But we’ll also engage leaders in one-on-one meetings, as I did this summer with Speaker Pelosi’s Chief of Staff and Senator Harris’ District Director. We are effective because we are able to play both the inside game and the outside game: sometimes we have a seat at the table and sometimes we’re working to rebuild the table itself.

You can trust that we’ll use all the tools in our toolbox to achieve health justice for all women at risk of and living with breast cancer. But we can only do this with your help.

Donate now to ensure we can continue this important work. ([link removed])

Thank you for investing in a future where lives and communities aren’t threatened by breast cancer.

In solidarity and with heartfelt gratitude,

The Breast Cancer Action Team

P.S. Donate now ([link removed]) and you’ll be entered to win a This is What the Cancer Resistance Looks Like t-shirt. The winner will be announced on December 26.
