• We uncovered a secret Facebook group where Border Patrol employees posted racist and degrading images. Our story prompted investigations into more than 70 current and former employees, now underway. 
• We revealed the inappropriate and sometimes illegal use of isolated timeouts in Illinois schools for children as young as five. Within 24 hours of publishing our story, the State Board of Education took immediate action by banning seclusions in all but the most extreme circumstances. 
• We discovered that the makers of TurboTax were using deceitful practices to trick taxpayers into paying hundreds of dollars to file their taxes when they were eligible to file them for free. After our story, Congress wiped out language in a bill that would have prevented the IRS from creating its own free tax filing software.
