Today, September 23rd a broad coalition of climate, environmental, labor, faith, social and environmental justice groups gathered to march, protest, and tell the Federal Reserve and Chase to halt the financing, extraction and burning of fossil fuels.
We ended our action at the Kluczynski Federal Building and told Senator's Durbin and Duckworth to Say NO to Manchin's Dirty Side Deal to fast track a natural gas pipeline in West Virginia and fossil fuel infrastructure in general!
350 Chicago is proud to have worked with youth climate action groups Fridays for Future and the Chicago Climate Youth Coalition in organizing the action.
We marched and performed a little Civil Discobedience to Staying Alive, had a die-in and danced some more to I Will Survive. We raised awareness to the public and called on the following institutions and politicians to stop supporting fossil fuel infrastructure.
We demanded that the,
-
Federal Reserve System - regulate fossil fuel financing in the US and promote investment in sustainable solutions and underserved communities.
-
Chase Bank - end financing to fossil fuel infrastructure and extraction and expand investment in sustainable solutions.
- Senator Durbin - Stop the bill to fast track fossil fuel infrastructure in frontline communities!
We had a great day and would like to thank the following groups for collaborating to create such an effective event.
