John,
I’m running this campaign on the belief that everyone has the right to be safe and equal under the law – it’s part of the same value set that guided my career as a nurse, as the north Minneapolis community prosecutor, and as an honest and fair serious crimes judge.
When I’m elected this November, I will utilize the Hennepin County Attorney’s office to fix our juvenile justice system, crack down on violent offenders, rebuild public trust in law enforcement, and collaborate with local governments, religious groups, and community organizations to identify and address criminal behavior before it harms the community. Those priorities will never change.
My opponent has recently tried to pivot her campaign messaging to revolve around the political slogan “public safety”. Public safety isn't a slogan to me. It's what I've spent my entire career protecting and promoting. On the other hand, my opponent’s campaign website didn’t mention safety, violent crime, or anyone she would prosecute (besides police officers) for her first several months in the race. Recently, Mary Moriarty scrubbed her own social media of her previous support of “defund the police.”
Perhaps Mary is finally starting to recognize what you and I both know: The next Hennepin County Attorney’s number one priority must be the safety and wellbeing of our community, full stop. I'm the only candidate in this race with the will and experience to get the job done, and I’ve been clear about that since day 1.
Please stand with me today by chipping in what you can: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/martha-for-hennepin-1?refcode=em_923_priorities
I’m so grateful to have your support.
Sincerely,
Martha
