My name is Julie, and I'm the Founder and CEO of Trust Women, an organization that opens clinics that provide abortion care in underserved communities. Operating these clinics in states hostile to reproductive rights is full of challenges, threats, and setbacks. But like you, I believe that everyone should be able to access the health care services they need, including abortion, regardless of where they live.
But right now, we're facing some of the greatest threats to abortion access we've seen in decades because anti-abortion lawmakers are hellbent on taking away our right to make our own decisions about our health care. That's why I decided to partner with the Center for Reproductive Rights to file three cases in Oklahoma and Kansas challenging harmful laws that threaten reproductive rights. With the help of the Center, we are challenging restrictive regulations in Kansas and Oklahoma that prohibit the use of telemedicine for abortion procedures and restrict qualified medical professionals from providing abortion care unless they are physicians. These laws create medically unnecessary barriers to accessing abortion care under the phony pretext of protecting patient health, and are a clear attack on our reproductive rights. These cases are a critical part of ensuring Trust Women can continue doing what we do best: provide quality, compassionate care to our patients.
