Hi John,
It's Trudy's husband, John. Trudy's election is less than 50 days away, so yes, I'm going to ask you to make a donation to support her campaign at the end of this email. But first, I want to share a story about Trudy that you won't hear in the news.
A couple years back, Trudy and I were waiting in the checkout line at the grocery store. I began loading our items onto the conveyor belt as the woman ahead of us pulled out her wallet to pay.
To be honest, I wasn't paying much attention to the woman. Like many of us, I'm usually too preoccupied – with my own groceries, my own errands, my own life – to notice everything happening around me. But Trudy is always so attentive and aware of those around her, no matter where she is.
So when that woman in front of us couldn't get her credit card to work, Trudy noticed and quietly sprung into action. While she scrounged through her bag looking for a way to pay, Trudy asked if the woman would mind if we paid for her groceries.
I knew Trudy wasn’t doing this to show off or so anyone else would see – and she certainly never would have imagined this story would make it to your inbox! She just saw a situation where she could make someone's day a bit easier and didn't think twice about it. She goes through life with her eyes and heart wide open to the world around her. She's always ready to lend a hand, learn something new, or forge a new friendship. It's one of the reasons I fell head over heels for her almost immediately when we first met.
The woman's groceries only cost maybe $20, and I am sure that was a help – but the bigger help for her was knowing she could count on the people around her to pitch in when they could.
My wife has spent her life improving and changing the lives of others – as a nurse, a parent, a friend, and a children's advocate. Caring for and helping others is as instinctual to Trudy as breathing. And now, she is running for the U.S. Senate to continue that legacy of service and bring real compassion back to Washington.
But Trudy will be the first to tell you that no one accomplishes anything on their own. That's why I'm personally asking you, John: Will you pitch in $5 – or whatever you have to spare tonight – to send someone to the U.S. Senate who will lead with grit, integrity, and kindness? The Senate needs a nurse's heart and mind now more than ever, but Trudy won't win without strong support from folks like you.

Thank you so much for having Trudy's back through thick and thin. Your partnership and support truly mean the world to both of us.

With sincere gratitude,
John
