[1]Women's March
5 days.
It’s been five days since Hurricane Fiona made landfall in Puerto Rico.
And 60% of Puerto Rican households still don’t have access to electricity
– 30% don’t have access to running water.
We need to call this catastrophe what it is: An extreme weather event made
far worse by our government’s failure to plan and failure to act quickly.
We know hurricanes are going to keep coming. We know extreme weather
events are only going to get worse. We know the system is fundamentally
broken.
That’s why we’re asking you to support the [ [link removed] ]Fiona Community Response
Fund – to provide immediate relief where our government has failed and the
long-term, power-building work to advance an equitable recovery.
The Fiona Community Response Fund is led by a coalition of community-led
organizations – a partnership of approximately 25 organizations including
the Maria Fund, Taller Salud, Ayuda Legal Puerto Rico, Institutio
Agroecologia, Campamento contra las cenizas de Peñuelas, Étnica, and
others.
