Shelter Aid:

Last Friday was Mexican Independence Day and Pastora Adriana made pambazos to celebrate with our friends over at Camino de Salvacion. Pambazos are a Mexican dish made with pambazo bread dipped and fried in a red guajillo pepper sauce. 🇲🇽 🎉

Thank you for your generous donations which ensure our over one dozen supported shelters have assistance with rent, utilities, bills, and dinners and celebrations like this one.

Choose Love ([link removed]) 💗 a fundraising organization supporting refugees and displaced people globally. We are so grateful for their support, which allows us to continue our life-saving work and programs.

“Choose Love does whatever it takes to provide refugees and displaced people with everything from lifesaving search and rescue boats to food and legal advice. We elevate the voices and visibility of refugees and galvanize public support for agile community organizations providing vital support to refugees along migration routes globally.”

After so much time working remotely we love being back in our community and welcoming visitors from all over the world. Check them out and show them some love!
Title 42 Exemptions
We received a video from Erick, whom we helped through our Title 42 exemption, a process exclusive to asylum seekers who have been in our supported shelters. He shares a quick and sweet message of gratitude to us, our supported shelter Volviendo a la Patria, and to all of you! We could not do this work without you, and without the amazing partnership with Psicologos Sin Fronteras, B.C.

Thank you for your continued support and for helping us bring this small but incredibly important relief at the border to the families who have been waiting up to two years for a chance to present their asylum case.
News Spotlight:

Asylum seeker died by suicide in New York City homeless shelter, mayor says
More than 11,000 migrants, mostly from Central and South America, have entered city homeless shelters since May, including 2,500 on buses chartered by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

A woman seeking asylum died by suicide in a New York City homeless shelter, Mayor Eric Adams said Monday.

The mayor’s announcement comes as the city struggles to find placement for the influx of migrants coming to the city.

“The thousands of asylum seekers we have seen arrive in our city came to this country seeking a better life. Sadly though, yesterday, an asylum seeker in one of our facilities took her own life,” Adams said in a statement. “Our hearts break for this young woman and any loved ones she may have, and we, as a city mourn her. This tragedy is a reminder that we have an obligation to do everything in our power to help those in need.”
