With Rosh Hashanah just days away, I wanted to take some time to thank you for championing the U.S.-Israel relationship this past year. As we welcome the Jewish New Year, we hope that both America and Israel enjoy a year of peace, security and prosperity.
Thanks to your efforts, and to those of so many in the pro-Israel community, pro-Israel candidates won crucial primaries, in some cases defeating candidates who would have supported efforts to undermine the vital ties between America and Israel. The November elections are just weeks away, and there’s still more work to do! But I am confident that the next Congress will continue to support the U.S.-Israel relationship by large margins on a bipartisan basis to help ensure that our ally, Israel, will continue to thrive and defend itself against the threats it faces.
And while we pray and work for peace, we know that many challenges remain – from Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons and regional dominance, to the ongoing terror threats from Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah and others, to the Palestinian Authority’s efforts to delegitimize Israel and Zionism. Growing antisemitism globally, including here in the U.S. on the left and right, threatens Jews and spotlights the importance of Israel in securing the Jewish future.
Despite these threats, we have reason to celebrate. Israel continues to thrive economically and create innovative solutions for global problems, while the Abraham Accords have ushered in a new era in Arab-Israeli relations that show great promise for the future. Israel this year ranks as 9th in the World Happiness Index, and its population has grown to nearly 9.4 million people.
As we take this time to reflect on the state of our country and Israel, I am confident that we will overcome any challenge in our way, and meet the new year with a slate of pro-Israel members of Congress who will continue to fight for what’s right. Your continued dedication to the U.S.-Israel relationship gives me hope that the pro-Israel community can stand strong together.
