Trust for Public Land has a very special—and very urgent—request for you!
Tomorrow is National Public Lands Day, the day thousands gather to clean, garden, and volunteer in any way possible to protect our nation’s public lands.
It’s a time to give back in return for how much our treasured lands give to us. And it’s the perfect time to ensure our public lands will still be here for generations to come!
Sadly, the state of our public lands is in peril, John, which is why a goal like this one is so needed—and so impactful.
As the demand for public land goes up— in 2016 and 2017, our national parks welcomed over 330 million visitors, the highest ever recorded—the number of public lands we have to enjoy is rapidly diminishing. Just today, 6,000 acres of land will be lost to real estate development. And by 2050, we are on track to lose 23 million acres of forests, filled with enough trees to cover the entire state of Indiana.
John, the good news is that there is something we can do about this. And National Public Lands Day is the perfect day to make an impact!
