Dear John,
|
Last week, the House of Representatives passed a sweeping and historic bill to lift the burden of crushing prescription drug prices. The "Lower Drug Prices Now Act" (H.R. 3), which, among other things, will empower Medicare to negotiate prices directly with drug makers, also delivers a sorely-needed, $2,000 annual cap on out-of-pocket drug costs for Medicare Part D beneficiaries. The bill then leverages the projected $456 billion in savings from lower drug prices to expand Medicare to include dental, vision and hearing coverage — a long-sought goal of the National Committee.

The fight to lower prescription drug costs now moves to the Senate where we must call on lawmakers to follow the House's lead! So please sign our Emergency Petition to the U.S. Senate, and urge them to act immediately to relieve the financial pain of high drug prices inflicted on America's seniors and their families!
John, as you know, Big Pharma has been steadily raising drug prices during the past two decades, in the absence of any government negotiation authority. Meanwhile, the drug industry's profits have soared, as has CEO compensation. The industry spends billions on lobbying and marketing — more than $6 billion for ads alone in 2018.
Skyrocketing drug prices impact the health and financial security of millions older Americans! That's why we need you engaged in this urgent battle to lower soaring drug costs and hold Big Pharma accountable for their callous pricing policies! So please, sign the National Committee's Emergency Petition right now! Help us convince the Senate to take meaningful action to restore some fairness to the prescription drug market!
