Dear John,

My name is Elizabeth and I'm Becca's wife! We met 22 years ago and we've been married for 17 (it'll be 18 in October!). We've been through a lot in those years, but what has always impressed me about Becca's approach to her work is her commitment to constituent services.

Senators in Vermont do not have any staff. There's no one else to field phone calls — except when we still had a landline, it was me. I'd make a long list of all the folks who were calling because of issues with various governmental departments. Becca called every single one of them back. And then, she'd make a plan with them to solve their problem.

You see, Becca and I both believe that there is no duty more solemn than that of representing other people in our government. We know that trust is built in small steps, and it is only when public servants like Becca partner with their constituents that our government works for all of us. Earning back the public’s trust in government starts with electing leaders like Becca — leaders who understand that doing the work takes time, sacrifice, compromise, and a willingness to make mistakes, own them, and make them right. We desperately need more leaders like Becca. If you agree, can you contribute to Becca’s campaign for Congress today?

Vermont senators are only paid during the session, from January to June. I used to joke that she should put an "out of office" message on her email from June through December — but she never did. She knew that once you're a public servant, you don't just shut the door on people who need your help.

I’m writing to you today because I believe that Becca is Vermont’s best choice. I want her to represent me, because we desperately need leaders who can inspire all of us to remember that our government works for US. It is made up of people just like us, and when we all pitch in and do our part, we can truly change the world.

I hope you'll join me as we continue this work to elect Becca to Congress. If you can, go here to chip in a few bucks to Becca’s campaign today.

With love from the both of us,

Becca believes the best thoughts are not always from the loudest voices in the room. As President Pro Tem of the Vermont State Senate, she's led the charge to invest in affordable housing, fight climate change, enshrine reproductive freedom into our state's constitution, and so much more. Now, she's running for Congress to have a greater impact on more Vermonters. If you'd like to receive fewer emails and only see our most important updates, click here.
