The UK Government has once again provided lots of extra money to the Scottish Government today, whilst delivering tax cuts for Borderers.
As a result of today's announcements by the Chancellor, the Scottish Government will have over £600m extra to spend in their budgets. Similarly, the average worker in the Borders will be £285 better off every year as a result of National Insurance cuts.
This is not to mention the huge protections being put in place to help households with their energy bills. I know all too well the difficulties rising costs are causing for families across the Borders. Every household will save £1400 against expected energy prices starting in October. More vulnerable households, such as those on lower incomes and pensioners, will receive even more support than this.
