Meet Our Honorees

We are excited to present this year's Breath of Life Award® to Steven M. Dubinett, M.D.!

Dr. Dubinett, Interim Dean of the UCLA David Geffen School of medicine, is also the director of the UCLA Clinical & Translational Science Institute, Associate Vice Chancellor, and Senior Associate Dean for Translational Research along with many other accomplishments. Building on original discoveries relevant to inflammation and immunity in lung cancer, he developed a translational research program, which utilizes these laboratory-based discoveries in the translational and clinical environment.

This year's Civic Leader Award honoree is the Honorable Dean Florez! 

A former member of the California State Assembly and the California Senate, he championed bills to improve farmworker health and safety, fought to protect Central Valley residents and workers from harmful pesticide exposure, and sought to hold farms accountable for air pollution. He now serves as a Member of California Air Resources Board where he is focused on ensuring environmental justice for all.
