23rd September 2022
Dear all,

The last few days and weeks have seen the country come together in a shared grief following the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. This has seen a collective togetherness across the nation, with the many memorials, services and of course the State Funeral on the 19th September, which saw thousands of people line the streets of London to say one final goodbye. It was also heartening to see hundreds of thousands of people paying their respects at the Lying-in-State at Westminster Hall over the weekend.

For most of us, Her Majesty was the only monarch we have ever known, and she served our nation faithfully throughout her 70 year reign. As ever, my continued thoughts go out to the Royal Family and those whose lives she has touched.

Elsewhere, one of Her Majesty's final acts was to ask Rt Hon Liz Truss MP to form a Government and become Prime Minister, following her success in the Conservative Party leadership contest. One of the new Prime Minister's first acts in the role was to take action to bring down the cost of energy bills by establishing a new Energy Price Guarantee, which ensures that the average household will pay no more than £2,500 per year on average for their energy bills. You can read more about this on my website here ([link removed]) .

I am delighted to have accepted a role as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice in the Prime Minister's new Government, with responsibilities including Judicial Review, inquests policy, coroners and legal services. I look forward to working alongside Secretary of State Brandon Lewis and the team to deliver a justice system that works for everyone in the UK.

As ever, my priority will always remain with my constituents in Finchley and Golders Green.

The Help and Support section ([link removed]) on my website is always there providing information and links to a range of support that is available from central Government, civil society, and Local Government. This includes support for families, support on employment and signposting towards support for businesses.

As ever, if my office can be of any help on any issue – please do not hesitate to get in touch. I can be contacted on [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) or my team are available to discuss casework issues on 020 8445 5875.

Yours sincerely,
PM announced action on Energy Bills

When she became Prime Minister, Liz Truss promised to take action to bring down energy bills.

She has announced that the Government will bring forward emergency legislation to establish a new Energy Price Guarantee, which will ensure that the average British household will pay more than £2,500 per year for their energy bills. This will last two years from October and will save the average household at least £1,000 per year – giving certainty on prices.

Finchley Central Car Park
Last month, Finchley Central Underground Station car park was occupied by illegal travellers. I subsequently asked TfL whether they could install a new entry barrier to stop the travellers from occupying this area.
