John,
As a proud immigrant, I am infuriated.
Using migrants and their families to score political points is unbecoming
of any elected official. But now it's a part of the GOP playbook. Every
election cycle, Republicans become more and more emboldened with their
hateful agenda.
It’s bad enough that they do everything in their power to stir up
resentment against immigrants simply seeking a better life, often escaping
terrible conditions and risking everything to come here. Now Republicans
are trying to turn migrants and refugees into political pawns just in time
for the midterm elections.
GOP governors are pulling stunts that are confusing, manipulating, and now
trafficking migrants as a campaign tactic. It’s cynical, power-hungry, and
just plain wrong. We cannot let Republicans define the narrative on
“border security” when real lives are at stake.

people to leave everything they have behind. But we know better:

We can’t and won’t let them get away with treating peoples’ lives as a
political game.
Building an immigration system rooted in humane, compassionate, and
evidence-based policy is a cause near and dear to my heart. Before I came
to Congress, I founded the largest immigrants' rights organization in
Washington State.
And as Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, I have pushed for
years to prioritize immigration reform that centers human dignity and
respect. Now and always, I will continue to fight for an America that
treats everyone with decency and equality - the country we all deserve.
I hope you are with me.
In solidarity,
Pramila
