Team, when it comes to public policy, I’ll admit: I’m a huge nerd. When Congress or the Supreme Court makes a huge change in our country, you can bet that I’m mapping out how it will affect people right here in Louisville.
So when Roe v. Wade was overturned and anti-choice laws passed by state legislatures across the country – including in Kentucky – were allowed to take effect, I knew we needed strong progressive policy in Washington to restore a woman’s right to an abortion.
I’m ready to fight to protect abortion rights in Congress. And if you’re in this fight with me, I know we can make it happen. So can I count on you to chip in $25 right now to my campaign for Congress? [[link removed]]

Here’s where abortion laws stand across the country:

1. Abortion is now banned in Kentucky and 14 other states: Indiana, Idaho, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, West Virginia, Alabama, and Georgia.
2. Utah, Wyoming, North Dakota, Ohio, Arizona, Michigan, and South Carolina have passed laws banning abortion, but those have recently and temporarily been blocked by lower courts.
3. For now , abortion is still legal in Montana, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida. Keeping abortion legal in these states hinges entirely on pro-choice Democrats winning in November.
4. In the remaining 20 states and Washington, D.C., access to safe, legal abortions is available and likely to remain protected, thanks to Democratic leaders fighting for our rights. However, both House and Senate Republicans have said that if they take over control of Congress, their goal is to pass a national abortion ban that will criminalize reproductive care even in these states.
I’ll be honest: this reality is scary.
My daughters growing up in Louisville – who are 4 and 11 years old – have fewer rights than my mom, their grandmother, had growing up. If we let them, the GOP will continue passing policies that strip away our rights.
I often say that so many of the problems we face today are due to policy decisions made by past lawmakers, and they can only be fixed with the policy decisions we can make now. So if we want a shot at crafting public policy that benefits all of us, we have to send Democrats to Congress who will work to move us forward.
I’m running for Congress to make sure our rights are protected at the federal level. Will you stand with me and chip in anything you can to my campaign? [[link removed]]
