John: Last week, GOP senators introduced a bill to ban abortion nationwide. That should send chills up everyone's spines, but instead, pundits and talking heads wrote it off because "a nationwide ban will never pass."
These same pundits said that Trump would never become president.
They said that Roe v. Wade would never be overturned.
They said that the GOP would never pass laws that could send patients and doctors to jail.
And they said that Republicans' abortion bans would never go so far as to endanger the lives of pregnant women.
But all of this has happened, and if we don't fight back, a nationwide ban will happen, too. It won't happen today – not with a Democratic majority in Congress and a Democrat in the White House – but if we let our guard down, if we stop fighting, it will happen.
To stop a nationwide abortion ban, we must aggressively, firmly reject this far-right, MAGA extremism. Voters in Kansas did it last month, and now, Missouri must do it in November by defeating anti-choice radical Eric Schmitt, the man who made Missouri the first state in the country to implement an extreme abortion trigger ban.
Trudy Busch Valentine – a nurse and fourth-generation Missourian – is running to defeat him, defend abortion rights, and expand our Senate majority. But she won't be able to stop Schmitt and his far-right agenda without strong grassroots support: Please, will you rush $5 or whatever you can spare right now to help Trudy win in November and stop our country from going any further backwards?
