Today is an incredible day in our work to end gun violence and invest in community-based violence prevention and intervention programs! 

The House passed lifesaving legislation, H.R.4118 - Break the Cycle of Violence Act, led by Community Justice champion Representative Steven Horsford (D-NV), authorizing $5 billion in federal grant funding for Community Violence Intervention strategies. This historic legislation will increase federal funding for hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIP), evidence-based street outreach programs, behavioral therapy for those most at risk to violence, and other types of community-led violence intervention and prevention programs.

This historic moment will significantly fund peace and wouldn’t be possible without the hundreds of survivors, activists, direct service providers, and community leaders from across the country. We know that the way to end gun violence is for our country to invest in the communities most impacted and today is another critical step.
