Hi John,
We all know that Philly’s facing a massive failure in city leadership.
Skyrocketing violence, collapsing buildings, a major hospital closure, and dozens of other problems...
And the leadership vacuum we’re seeing here is showing up with frightening regularity across the country.
From Mississippi, where 150,000 Jackson residents were left without access to clean water because of decades of infrastructure mismanagement.
From Massachusetts, where a plane full of immigrants were sent by Florida’s governor with no plan or infrastructure in place as part of a perverse political stunt.
From Texas, where Republican state officials are delaying a report on pregnancy-related deaths because they are scared about what the data will mean for the state’s extreme abortion ban.
Failed leadership has spread almost as quickly as COVID—the pandemic itself another clear failure of leadership.
Mississippi, Massachusetts, Texas—those should be cautionary tales for a place like Philly. And we should be proactively trying to prevent another Flint, another Uvalde, or another Camp climate fire.
So if our elected officials won’t do the work? Vote ‘em out.
