John — A recent NBC poll shows that “threats to democracy” is the #1 issue Americans are concerned about heading into the midterm elections:

Most important issues for Americans. Threats to democracy: 21%, cost of living: 16%, jobs and the economy: 14%

And for good reason. In states like ours, multiple election deniers are on the ballot this fall. Katie’s far-right opponent, Kari Lake, has centered her entire campaign around the Big Lie, while Mark Finchem, the Republican candidate for Secretary of State, participated in the January 6 insurrection.

If these two are elected in a matter of weeks, they could work together to dispute or ignore the outcome of future elections, refuse to certify the result of the next presidential election, or claim that the losing candidate won in Arizona. We cannot afford to let that happen.
