TWO MILLION illegal aliens caught crossing the border just this year!

Dear John,

This morning I saw a headline that the border patrol had arrested almost 2 million persons illegally trying to cross our southern border this fiscal year.

This is a shocking number no matter who tries to explain it away or tone it down.

For one thing, two million is by far the worst surge of illegal immigration on record. It is far far higher than anything that we saw during the Trump years or even the Obama years. In one year, that's more immigrants than the United States received for the first seventy years of our nation's history!

How many is 2 million? It's roughly the population of the entire nations of Estonia and Iceland combined. In fact, that's a great way to get a hold of the scale of this migration. This year, it is as if the entire population of the two foreign nations had left their country and moved en masse to the United States.

Worse yet, studies show that since President Biden has been in office, more than 1 million illegal aliens have crossed the border and been permitted to stay, at least for now.

It may seem as if complaining about illegal immigration is like complaining about the weather. But we've seen just how extreme politicians in Washington can become the moment they think they've won an advantage. We can still undo much of the damage of the Biden administration's lawlessness. As you've probably read, border-state governors like Greg Abbott of Texas and Ron DeSantis of Florida have been transporting busloads of illegal aliens to sanctuary cities and other places with officials who oppose immigration enforcement. Northern governors and mayors are screaming bloody murder about having to care for the illegal aliens they previously CLAIMED to welcome... but these busloads are really only a drop in the bucket.

Enough illegal aliens arrive on the Southern border every two days to equal the entire population of Martha's Vineyard! Enough arrive every few months to equal the entire population of the state of Vermont!

Pres. Biden likes to try to blame conditions in other countries, but we know that's not what's driving this recent surge. After all, conditions in many Latin American and other countries have been bad for many years, but we've never seen anything like this.

The real reason is that President Joe Biden and his administration simply refuse to stop it. They actually seem to want ever-increasing illegal immigration. Somehow, they believe that people pushing their way into this country without asking first is the best way to keep our labor supply cheap and plentiful. One thing America does NOT need is more unskilled or poorly educated laborers.

More cheap labor? What an insult to hard-working Americans! What an insult to law and order! What an insult to the taxpayers in every part of the country who are having to foot the bill.

I know, I know, I've heard from many of you that you are frustrated that there's not much we can do to force the administration to do their duty and enforce the law. After all, the leadership of the current Congress is basically uninterested in enforcing immigration law and is working in cahoots with the Biden administration. But change is likely coming!

Almost every single political analyst is predicting that the GOP will take control of the House of Representatives in the fall election. And the House Republican leaders have already announced a strong commitment to bring law and order back to the border. You may ask, what can one chamber of Congress do when you have a hostile administration? Actually, they can do a whole lot. Here are some of the things they can do:

Hold administrative oversight hearings to put administration officials under oath and hold them publicly accountable.

Cut off or reduce funds to favorite administration programs until the administration starts enforcing the laws passed by Congress.

✓
Pass bills that will, at the very minimum, force Democrats to publicly admit that they will not support laws to improve the situation.

✓
Send out subpoenas to the administrative cronies running the Department of Homeland Security to uncover the grizzly facts about what's going on on the border.

And what is NumbersUSA's role?

We know from many past betrayals by Republican leaders that if Republicans do gain control of one of the chambers of Congress that we will have to mobilize our army of citizen activists on a continuing basis to keep the pressure on anybody who made a promise to restore immigration order to fulfill that promise.

We will pester Congress with phone calls and emails. We will show up at the town hall meetings that members of Congress have in their home districts.

We'll put on enough pressure that Congress will be able to think of little else but reforming immigration.
