The Senate voted on my DISCLOSE Act today, friend. Republicans blocked our attempt to rid American democracy of poisonous dark money.
|
With the Senate split 50-50, the DISCLOSE Act couldn’t pass. All 50 Democrats voted in favor, but not a single Republican joined us. I urge you to keep that in mind with the midterms coming up.

A huge majority of Americans support getting dark money out of politics. But dark money feeds the Republican Party so my colleagues across the aisle have no incentive to do anything about it. Dark money is the lifeblood of the GOP's Supreme Court capture operation. It's behind the phony front groups spreading climate denial. It's at the heart of Trump's Big Lie about the 2020 election.
|
If we removed dark money from our elections, Republicans would have to play fair. They wouldn't be able to hit up shady special interests for $1.6 billion – yep, billion with a "b" – to flood the airwaves with attack ads and spread misinformation.
Getting rid of dark money would level the playing field, and that's the last thing Mitch McConnell wants. We have to expand our Senate majority to get around McConnell and his dark-money stooges.

I'm leading the fight to expand our Democratic majority and get dark money out of our elections, but today I'm asking for your support. I don't accept a dollar from corporate PACs, so I rely entirely on contributions from people like you: If you want to join me in this fight, will you make a donation of $5 or more to my campaign today to take on the special interests and get dark money out of our politics?

Thank you so much for reading. I’m going to keep fighting until we get this done.
Sincerely,
Sheldon
