Act now to help fight plastic pollution

Dear John,

Earlier this year, I visited a large open landfill site in Nairobi, Kenya. It was one of the most shocking experiences of my life.

The sprawling Dandora dumpsite covers over 30 acres and you can smell it from miles away. Enormous birds – marabou storks – pick their way around mounds of waste, scavenging for food.

Every day, another 2,000 metric tonnes of waste is dumped at Dandora – including the equivalent of 30 lorry loads of plastic.

Can you make a donation to help us tackle plastic waste and other threats to our natural world?

When I visited Kenya, I was attending a United Nations meeting where we achieved a landmark agreement. Governments from around the world now have until the end of 2024 to agree the final terms of a legally binding treaty on plastics.

This represents a huge step towards ending plastic pollution.

EIA has been at the forefront of the campaign to secure an ambitious global agreement on plastics for several years. By donating today, you can help us:
  • Keep campaigning for the best possible global plastics treaty during the next stage of negotiations in November.
  • Take on the shocking problem of the UK’s plastic waste trade and illegal exports.
  • Engage with retailers and farmers over the use of ‘agri-plastics’.
  • Tackle other serious threats to wildlife and the natural world.
Please donate
On behalf of everyone in the EIA team, thank you.
