Troy High School Media Center is the 2022/2023 Model School LIbrary

Good afternoon! The Library of Michigan is pleased to announce that for 2022/2023, the Troy High School Media Center with School Librarian, Toni Isaac, has been selected as our new Model School Library. The Troy High School Media Center is a place where the partnership with the public library has expanded opportunities and resources for students and teachers. LM selected Toni?s library for the Model SL 21 honor for her focus on connecting the school community with community resources such as the public library as well as outstanding information literacy support across the curriculum.? We look forward to learning from Toni this year!

The Model School Library program at the Library of Michigan (LM) provides examples and mentors for K-12 school libraries throughout the state as well as highlights great school librarians. Each year, a school library program is selected and highlighted as the Model SL 21 School Library Program of the Year.

For 2021/2022, the Model School Library was West Maple Elementary School Library in the Birmingham Public Schools with School Librarian, Carrie Betts. During the year as the Model School Library, Carrie hosted Wayne State University?s Project RUSL (Restoring Urban School Libraries) and Airport Community Schools at her library as well as worked with district curriculum coordinators to update selection policies.? She presented at the Michigan Association of School Administrators Mid-Winter conference, assisted other districts on selection policies and wrapped up her year by presenting a poster session at ALA Annual Conference in Washington, DC in June. Congratulations to Carrie for being selected as the Model School Library and for doing such a great job during her tenure.
