This week, I held packed rallies for protecting and expanding Social Security with three phenomenal congressional candidates: Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN), Rep. Cindy Axne (D-IA), and Hillary Scholten, who is running for U.S. House in Michigan.

Craig and Axne are both in highly competitive re-election races, running against Republican men who want to cut and privatize Social Security.

Scholten has one of the best chances of flipping a Republican district blue, giving Democrats the expanded House majority we need to protect and expand our earned benefits.

Angie Craig is a Social Security champion who has introduced legislation to end the taxation of Social Security benefits. Her bill is fully paid for by requiring the wealthy to contribute into Social Security on all of their income.

Craig’s opponent, Tyler Kistner, says he “would really like to look into” privatizing Social Security and raising the retirement age. We need to keep him out of Congress!

Cindy Axne is running on a promise to “never cut a dime from Social Security or Medicare.” She is a key leader in the fight to improve the Social Security Administration’s customer service, and has introduced a bill to improve service on the SSA phone line.

Axne's opponent, Iowa State Senator Zach Nunn, has spent years working to weaken and privatize Iowa’s Medicaid program. If elected to Congress, he’ll do the same to Social Security and Medicare.

Hillary Scholten is running on a promise to protect our earned Social Security and Medicare benefits.

Her opponent, John Gibbs, defeated a more moderate Republican in the primary. That means that there’s no incumbent in this district, and it’s one of the best chances in the country to flip a red House seat blue.

Gibbs won the primary with the support of FreedomWorks, a far-right group that slanders Social Security as "a ponzi scheme that is unsustainable by design."

We need to make sure that Angie Craig and Cindy Axne stay in Congress — and that Hillary Scholten joins them!
