Republicans across the nation are all backtracking their positions on abortion, and Mark Ronchetti is no exception. Once self-proclaimed “strongly pro-life” and a “champion” on curbing abortion rights with the goal of ending all abortion in New Mexico, Ronchetti now knows his real position on abortion is too extreme and wants to hide that truth from voters.
Ronchetti’s made it clear: he wants to end all abortion [[link removed]] in New Mexico. Now Ronchetti is calling for a constitutional amendment to ban abortion [[link removed]] , claiming “ you should [[link removed]] ” make that choice. But this is just another way of Ronchetti saying that he wants to ban abortion and wants others to make that decision for you.
Because of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and Democratic state legislators' leadership, New Mexicans already have the ability to make their own reproductive health care choices for themselves. It is not up to the rest of the state to decide for you. No matter how much he tries to backtrack and hide his opinion, New Mexicans are catching on and seeing what his and the GOP’s true intentions are: taking away your right to choose.
