On Tuesday, September 27th, Hunger Free America will be hosting a Day of Anti-Hunger Volunteer Service in conjunction with the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. These events will be taking place at multiple locations, including New York City and Washington, D.C.
Volunteers can participate in a number of activities, including:
- Canvassing a local neighborhood to promote school breakfasts
- Conducing SNAP and WIC outreach, particularly targeting older Americans, veterans, immigrants, active-duty military families, and unemployed working people.
- Promoting nutrition education.
- Preparing, packing, and/or serving food at emergency food programs.

Volunteer opportunities include:
- Dreaming Out Loud – Farm & Food Hub: Support on-farm duties including harvesting, weeding, etc.
- Dreaming Out Loud – The Farm at Fort Stanton: Support on-farm duties including harvesting, weeding, etc.
- Canvassing: Provide information to DC residents on applying for food assistance benefits, including free school meals
- Benefits Access Outreach: Conduct outreach to distribute information on SNAP, WIC and P-EBT and conduct brief eligibility pre-screenings, as appropriate
- DC Food Project: Assemble food and toiletry bags for all Kelly Miller students to take home to their families

If you want to help the cause but cannot volunteer on Tuesday, that's ok! You can be a "Virtual Volunteer" by donating to the effort. Your contribution will assist us in printing outreach materials, providing transportation for volunteers, distributing resources to those in need, and so much more, for this and future service events!
