Earlier this year, Mississippi cut the state income tax, giving 1.1 million Mississippi workers a tax break. The Mississippi Center for Public Policy has now received a national award in recognition of our role in making this historic tax cut happen.
The Mississippi Center for Public Policy staff received two awards from the State Policy Network.
The State Policy Network, which gave out the awards at their annual meeting in Atlanta, supports a movement of over 60 independent think tanks across America. MCPP received the award jointly with Empower Mississippi.
Our award, for the Biggest Win for Freedom, shows that the reform agenda we are helping deliver in Mississippi is getting national recognition.
Mississippi has been one of the poorest states in America for as long as anyone can remember. Cutting the state income tax will encourage growth in our state and put Mississippi on the right path.
The Award event got even better, however. In recognition of our effort to overturn the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate our litigation division, the Mississippi Justice Institute, won the SPN Network Award.

We were given the award jointly with a number of other think tanks, including the Texan Public Policy Foundation and Louisiana’s Pelican Institute.
Speaking at the SPN Award event in Atlanta, Douglas Carswell, our President & CEO said, "These awards show that MCPP is driving real change in Mississippi. We now need to focus on achieving real change in education and healthcare, too."
