John, right-wing election deniers and map manipulators are clearly doing everything they can to maintain their unearned political power. They have gone so far as to enact voter suppression laws, intimidating communities they serve, and ultimately disregarding the disenfranchisement of marginalized communities with limited resources.

All On The Line began democracy-saving efforts to improve people's power by advocating for equitable congressional maps. Existential issues with congressional districts have disenfranchised communities of color in places such as Florida and Texas, suppressing the voices of numerous African Americans and Latinos.

We understand the significance of all voices being heard at the polls and the impact it makes in ensuring human rights are protected by our elected officials.

In places such as Colorado, voters passed measures that created independent redistricting commissions with requirements to ensure robust public participation as part of the redistricting process. During the 2020 redistricting cycle, our organizing efforts resulted in Colorado’s Independent Congressional Redistricting Commission ensuring that the Latino community had an opportunity to elect a candidate of their choice by creating the new 8th congressional district with the highest percentage of Latinos of any congressional district in the state.

As we rise to these challenges for the sake of our democracy, it’s important that all people are granted the opportunity to engage in the decisions about their community, which starts with fair maps and equal opportunity to vote. We can no longer let this age-old system eradicate the power of diversity.

A.G. Holder said it best, “To protect our democracy, we must do democracy.” That implies that every one of us must not only vote but also support others in ensuring that their vote counts.
