It's a slap in the face to the millions of activists who spent decades advocating for marriage equality. It's a slap in the face to the millions who identify as LGBTQ+ whose right to marry the person they choose is being threatened by a far-right Supreme Court. It's a slap in my face, a bisexual person who celebrated marriage equality in 2015, never realizing how quickly that could be taken away if we don't codify that right.
The Respect for Marriage Act would do just that, protect our freedoms by codifying marriage equality. The House already passed the bill in July, but it faces challenges in the Senate. Hypocritical bigots like Lindsey Graham are fighting against this bill, calling it a "distraction."
To Senator Lindsey Graham: My rights are not a distraction, and it's your job to protect them.
Jack, we need your help to fight discrimination against same-sex couples. If you believe same-sex couples deserve the right to get married, let your senators know.
