Investments in sustainable passive funds are rapidly growing, attracting a record $69 billion in net flows in 2021. While this growth is encouraging, it is worth asking just how “green” these funds really are. WRI recently analyzed how the 35 largest, most popular U.S. sustainably labeled passive funds align with the Paris Agreement’s climate action goals. The results show much room for improvement. WRI announced that Moazzam Malik will be joining its leadership team as the Managing Director for Global Delivery. Malik will champion WRI’s mission in Asia and the Middle East, as well as oversee the institutional infrastructure and systems required to deliver WRI’s ambitious global strategy and country strategies. Malik previously served as the Director General for Africa for the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and prior to that, as British Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN.  Learn more about WRI’s new Managing Director.

New WRI research finds that significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions can create millions of jobs in the U.S by 2035. The study models federal policies included in the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, such as clean energy tax credits and infrastructure investments, as well as additional policies that can help the U.S. achieve net-zero emissions.
