Friend,

Today, President Trump will sign a spending bill that excludes protections that would shield states with adult-use marijuana legalization laws from federal interference.

Congress stripped these crucial provisions out at the last minute. We must do everything we can to keep the Department of Justice and Drug Enforcement Administration from meddling with legal marijuana.

The only way to permanently protect our victories is by changing federal law. That’s why passing the MORE Act is so important: tell Congress to move this crucial bill forward to end the federal war on marijuana: [link removed]

Despite today’s disappointing news, support for the MORE Act is growing in Congress due to advocates like you. It was recently approved in an historic vote by the House Judiciary Committee and getting the bill through a House floor vote is one of our top priorities next year.

The MORE Act is a step toward advancing marijuana justice for all. It would de-schedule marijuana and reinvest marijuana tax revenue in those who have been most affected by prohibition. It would also support equitable licensing, prevent deportation and provide for federal resentencing and expungement for marijuana cases.

Members of Congress should listen to the majority of Americans who support marijuana legalization, and acknowledge the devastating consequences of prohibition for countless lives, and particularly for the Black and Brown communities that have borne the brunt of marijuana prohibition’s harms.

It’s time Congress recognize prohibition’s failure and stop using the country’s funding as ransom to keep marijuana prohibition and the drug war intact.

Stand with us by taking action to help end the war on marijuana, right the wrongs of prohibition, and advance drug policies grounded in science, compassion, health and human rights: [link removed]
