Friend — this Saturday is National Public Lands Day. I hope you get outside to celebrate and enjoy America's public parks, conservation areas, and national monuments.

But before the celebrations begin, I want to tell you a little bit more about public lands and what you can do right now to fight for conservation.

At LCV, we campaign to permanently protect at-risk landscapes and the historic cultural sites that represent our country's diverse history. Without the efforts of this incredible community, future generations might not be able to enjoy the precious outdoor spaces that we love so much.

LCV members and supporters like you are what power our work to protect public lands. This year, we've set a goal to deliver 10,000 signatures asking President Biden to act to protect more parks. Before you read on — can you help us reach our goal?
TAKE ACTION:
PROTECT MORE PARKS

When you make calls, send emails to policymakers, and sign our petitions, you're standing up to corporate polluters' army of lobbyists and friendly politicians. And when we meet with policymakers making key decisions on these issues, they know you're in our corner.

Here are just a few of the incredible victories we've won together for public lands:

  • After an aggressive grassroots campaign advocating for the federal government to protect more public lands, we made history last year when President Biden committed to protecting 30 percent of America's lands and waters by 2030.
  • Last year, President Biden restored protections to three national monuments — Bears Ears, Grand Staircase-Escalante, and Northeast Canyons and Seamounts National Monuments — that the Trump Administration had revoked at the urging of their corporate polluter allies. This followed an aggressive campaign and grassroots actions from thousands of supporters just like you.
  • Earlier this year, the Biden Administration took action to cancel mining leases that threaten the pristine Boundary Waters and is moving to protect the entire watershed of America's most visited wilderness area. Hardrock mining would put at risk the vital outdoor recreation jobs, clean water, and wildlife habitat it provides for the communities of northeast Minnesota.
These are huge wins, but we still have a long way to go to reach our conservation goals.

We need your help to protect even more public lands from corporate polluters and preserve access for future generations.

Will you take action right now? We're pushing for President Biden to designate three new national monuments this year — Avi Kwa Ame in Nevada, Castner Range in Texas, and Camp Hale-Continental Divide in Colorado.

All three of these landscapes are strong candidates for conservation under the Antiquities Act with wide support from elected officials and local communities. Protecting these lands will preserve cultural sites and ecosystems while expanding equitable access to nature and investing in the growing outdoor recreation economy.

TAKE ACTION: Protect America's natural resources and cultural sites. Help us reach our goal to deliver 10,000 comments to President Biden before National Public Lands Day this Saturday, September 24.

Thank you for your tireless advocacy on behalf of our treasured lands.

Sincerely,

Alex Taurel
