Jack, how did our nation end up with abortion apartheid? The Electoral College, which paved the way for a deeply corrupt Supreme Court that has no interest in delivering equal justice for all, and instead pushes its own ultra-radical politics.

Thanks to the Electoral College, in two of the last six presidential elections, the candidate with fewer votes won. As a result, George W. Bush and Donald Trump named five extremist justices to the Supreme Court. The court's ultra-conservative supermajority wasted no time overturning Roe, which unleashed a tidal wave of abortion bans across the nation. Now, pregnant people throughout the country have to navigate confusing and absurd laws, and risk their lives and freedom to access care.
In a democracy, every vote should matter, every vote should count the same, and the candidate who gets the most votes should win. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is an agreement among several U.S. states and the District of Columbia to award all their respective electoral votes to whichever presidential candidate wins the overall popular vote. Once states totaling 270 electoral votes join the compact—which only requires passing state laws—then the next presidential election will be determined by the popular vote.
The Electoral College is an antiquated and unjust way of electing the president. It has silenced millions of Americans’ voices with its “winner-take-all” mechanism and its unfair emphasis on a few “swing states,” and led to an erosion of our freedoms and rights. It's time for it to go.
