The threats to our democracy are real, and we are seeing troubling evidence right here in Oregon.

Republican Christine Drazan, one of Tina’s two conservative opponents, was recently endorsed by a group with ties to election deniers, Capitol rioters, and conspiracy theorists, and she had a very worrying response to the endorsement.

She said she appreciates the group's support and “looks forward to working with them in the future.”

Let that set in, folks. A candidate for Oregon governor is proudly taking the endorsement of a group that is linked to militant extremist groups and conspiracy theorists like the Proud Boys, QAnon, and the Three Percenter movement.

What makes all this even worse is that the group’s spokesperson, who personally attended the events at the Capitol on January 6, also commented that “we certainly appreciate Betsy Johnson.” This comes as no surprise since Betsy worked with the group, known as Timber Unity, to kill climate change legislation when she was a state senator.

It’s not just troubling that both of Tina’s conservative opponents share ties with election deniers, capitol rioters, and conspiracy theorists — it’s potentially dangerous.

John, Oregonians cannot afford to elect a governor who is tied to extremist groups that threaten our democracy.
