Dear Friend,
The economy continues to weaken as the nation is forced to shoulder the heavy weight of President Biden's inflation crisis. Today, the Federal Reserve announced that it would hike the benchmark lending rate to a new target range of 3%-3.25% — a rate we've not seen since the 2008 financial crisis. This move by the Fed is an attempt to bring down the high inflation rates that have plagued Americans as prices rise and real wages drop.
The inflation rate was exacerbated by the wasteful spending of D.C. Democrats, who passed nearly $2 trillion of "COVID relief" after most of the nation had moved past the pandemic and reopened many businesses. More recently, Democrats approved the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which will not improve inflation for the American people in the short term but, instead, will raise taxes and continue wasteful spending.
Republicans adamantly opposed these moves, citing inflationary worries, but the spending measures were still passed. But even now, as Americans cut back and look for second jobs to help pay their expenses due to inflation, Democrats are continuing to double down on their spending. President Biden announced that Americans would be responsible for paying for over $500 billion of student loan debt — whether they went to college or not — and Democrats could tack on tens of billions of dollars in COVID-19 aid, even after President Biden admitted the pandemic was over.
Democrats have a spending problem, and it's become a BIG problem for the American people's pocketbooks.
Republicans have a solution. On Friday, we are announcing our Commitment to America, which will deliver “An Economy That’s Strong, A Nation That’s Safe, A Future That’s Built On Freedom, and A Government That’s Accountable.”
In next week's email, I will share with you the details of our Commitment to America and our ideas to get America back on track. I encourage you to share this email with your friends and family and encourage them to subscribe to my newsletter so they can learn more about our Commitment to America.
