Congressman Al Green Admonishes Top U.S. Megabanks for their Involvement in the Financing of Slavery
(Washington, D.C.) — On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, Congressman Al Green released the following statement:
“During today’s Financial Services Hearing entitled 'Holding Megabanks Accountable: Oversight of America’s Largest Consumer Facing Banks' I probed the CEOs of the largest U.S. financial institutions––Wells Fargo, PNC Bank, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Citibank, Truist, and U.S. Bank––on their historical ties to slavery and plans to publicly atone for any involvement with slavery they may have had. After admitting they have not done enough to atone, they all declined to lay out a public atonement plan. View the full exchange below.”
