Stormwater Management & Infrastructure Impact Public Hearing

I am happy to announce a Stormwater Management & Infrastructure Impact Public Hearing on Monday, October 3rd at 1 PM at the Upper Providence Township Building on 1286 Black Rock Rd, Phoenixville. Open to the public, this policy hearing will address our outdated stormwater systems and how to better prepare for extreme weather events. 

I will be joined by experts and local leaders to strategize ways to protect our communities along waterways, specifically the Perkiomen Creek, as well as improve infrastructure in light of recent and predicted weather events like flooding and drought.

Abortion Legislative Package 

On Monday, my esteemed colleagues in the Pennsylvania Women's Health Caucus announced a four-bill package of legislation to protect abortion and reproductive rights here in Pennsylvania. The four bills are geared to protect out of state citizens when they enter our commonwealth for treatment, protect licensing of abortion providers, expand the number of abortion providers and remove unnecessary road blocks to access abortion in Pennsylvania which is protected under our state constitution.

Access to abortion and reproductive health care must remain available in Pennsylvania so that women and birthing individuals can live freely and make informative decisions for their body and their future. I am proud to have stood with my colleagues and friends and offer my full support to safeguard these essential human rights that continue to face violations and abuse. 

Collegeville Park Grant

Yesterday, I announced a $63,000 grant to improve the accessibility of Collegeville's Community Park. Awarded by the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program, this grant money will be used to offset the cost of adding an accessible walkway to the basketball and hockey courts, while also repairing and resurfacing the courts in an effort to make them safer. 

I applaud this funding and am proud to support Collegeville Borough's commitment to outdoor recreation and shared community space. Visit here for the full press release.

Fire & EMS Bills

Today the House passed HB 1178 to create tuition and loan assistance for volunteer Fire & EMS workers in an effort to recruit and retain much-needed fire & EMS volunteers for our local fire stations. The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.

I supported this bill in the previous legislative session and am happy to see it finally pass. It is my hope that the Senate will take up HB 1178 quickly and provide it to the Governor for signature.

FraudSleuth & Veteran ID

Don't forget! My FraudSleuth & Veteran ID event with the Montgomery Country Recorder of Deeds is next Wednesday, September 28 from 10AM to noon at my district office at 35 Evansburg Road, Collegeville. 

FraudSleuth is a free service from the Montco Recorder of Deeds which alerts homeowners od any present or future records against your property.

If you are a veteran, you may also apply for your Veteran Discount Photo ID card to receive discounts on goods and services at selected Montgomery County businesses. 

Rosh Hashanah

This Sunday begins the two-night celebration of Rosh Hashanah or the Jewish New Year. The first of the two Jewish High Holy Days, Rosh Hashanah commemorates the creation of the world, commencing a time of prayer, good deeds, and reflection.
