I’m reaching out because Mandela and I need your help. But will you give me a chance to explain before I ask you to chip in?

Mandela and I both know what it takes to run and win statewide. We’ve broken barriers and made history already, but now we are taking on our toughest challenges ever.

Mandela’s race and my race for U.S. Senate in North Carolina are two of the closest challenger races in the entire country. CNN says they are two of the top three seats “most likely to flip” to Democrats.

That means flipping these seats is our best chance to expand the majority and end the filibuster, and when we win, we will also make history as our state’s first Black senators.

But we need you with us. Our campaigns are being heavily outspent right now, and with the FEC deadline around the corner, all eyes are on us to see if we have what it takes to compete with the tens of millions of super PAC dollars flooding our states.

So I am asking you personally: Will you please split a donation between Mandela’s campaign and my Senate campaign in North Carolina to help us secure historic victories in November?

Like Mandela says, it’s time for us to change the game.

He and I get that Washington isn’t working for our families, and it’s time for us to shake up the broken status quo.

We are both committed to doing what is right and just. Together, we will not hesitate to cast the two decisive votes to codify abortion rights, defend your right to vote, and rebuild the middle class.

But whether or not that progress is possible could come down to a handful of votes in Wisconsin and North Carolina, and your donation might make all the difference.
