Fellow Conservative,
Funding the government is about more than money—it’s about the policies that those dollars fund. Currently our taxpayer dollars are funding Biden’s agenda—high inflation, open borders, a student debt bailout, and a radical transgender agenda.
The House and Senate are currently working on a deal to fund the government past September 30. If that spending deal expires in December, it’s setting up a bad scenario for the American people. Speaker Nancy Pelosi will have the opportunity to cement Biden’s failed agenda for a third year!
Historically, a spending fight in December has been bad for America—Congress sneaks through bad ideas while the nation is anticipating the holidays.
For example:
- December, 2020 - The House and Senate passed a $2.3 trillion spending bill that recklessly added to the debts, pumped money into the economy, and paid workers to stay home. All of which is now contributing to the current economic downturn.
- December, 2019 - The House and Senate passed a “minibus” spending bill on the heels of a short-term continuing resolution. They made it behind closed doors, with no transparency, and only three days before government funding was set to expire. Democrats strong-armed the American people into a bad spending package.
To avoid a spending debate right before Christmas, Congress should pass a CR to keep the government funded until January of 2023.
A NEWLY ELECTED CONGRESS should set the policy agenda and government funding levels for 2023. We should not let Nancy Pelosi write one last bad bill on her way out!
