Dear Neighbor,
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
As the daughter of immigrant parents from Mexico, this month always means a lot to me.
This is a time to celebrate the Latino community’s achievements and all that we contribute to this amazing country. But it is also a time to reflect on another reality: the pages of U.S. history are still missing so much of our story.
Because make no mistake: Latino history is American history.

Latinos helped keep our economy and our communities on track during this pandemic.
We are entrepreneurs, local leaders, professional athletes, community activists—and Members of Congress.
That is why I am proud be a Latina every single day of my life. And I am proud of the heritage, the history, and the traditions that we bring to this country.
I’ll keep fighting for a better, more inclusive future for Latinos and for all Americans.
